Designer sports bag and apparel company OGIO just released its OGIO Endurance Collection. The line has bags that address the needs runners, swimmers, triathletes, cyclists, downhill mountain bikers and other athletes in endurance sports and competitions.

The seven-bag line is built to provide organization, protection and comfort for athletes taking part in high-intensity workouts and competitions. The line is made with lightweight yet sturdy materials that protect gear, yet make it light enough to carry to a race or location to workout.

OGIO’s flagship bag, the 9.0 Endurance Bag, has several features to keep any athlete organized. The bag includes two molded and lined compartments that provide protection for goggles, sunglasses, heart rate monitors, other electronic devices and fragile goods. Several other compartments include a wet/dry pocket with built-in 360-degree ventilation gussets for wetsuits, swim suits and soiled clothes to keep them separated from the rest of the bag. Shoes get their own ventilated compartment big enough to carry two parts of shoes. Dirty clothes also get their own ventilated compartment that maintains good airflow to keep post-workout clothes from developing that locker room stink.

Six other bags, the 8.0, 7.0, 5.0, 3.0, 2.0 and 1.0, each have similar compartments for organization. Each bag offers advantages for size and sport-specific features. Bags are designed with adjustable shoulder straps that can be worn backpack-style and an integrated carry handle for options when traveling with the bag.

Expect to find the OGIO Endurance Collection in specialty bike, running, and multi-sport stores starting in February.

Earlier this week we got a few details and video on the Cervélo P5 triathlon/time trial bike. Now the full details are available on the highly-anticipated bike.

As we mentioned, the frameset features a BBright bottom bracket. The frameset also includes skin surfaces tuned for each AeroZone to optimize airflow and make the P5 aerodynamic. Cervélo reports the new P5 frameset shaves up to 30 seconds in a 40-kilometer time trial. A compliment to the BBright bottom bracket, ComfortPly technology removes unnecessary material to reduce vibration and improve ride quality.

click for larger image

Cervélo designed and 3T manufactured an integrated aduro aerobar that hides all cables and eliminates drag. Engineered cable paths minimize bends and maximize shifting performance. The Aduro can be positioned lower than most aero bars and allows for over 11 centimeters of upward adjustment, so you can find a comfortable position for a comfortable spin on race day or any ride.

Cervélo worked with Magura to produce the hydraulics for the brake system, the only tri bike to feature a hydraulic brake system as OEM equipment in 2012. The hydraulic system is both aerodynamic and lighter than standard caliper or disc brake systems. Cervélo says the hydraulic system is zero-maintenance, and for a racer that’s a welcome claim. The hydraulic system provides modulation and strong stopping power. The calipers adjust to fit all wheels, including the newest wide rims.

Often considered minor details, storage and hydration are never forgotten on aerodynamic bikes like the P5. Here’s where drag is further reduced. Cervélo offers a range of sleek and intuitive storage solutions custom designed for the P5. An integral bottle cage mount fits betweek the aerobar pads; a Shimano Di2 battery can be placed inside the frame’s HiddenPocket; nutrition bars and liquids fit in multiple locations.

The Cervélo P5 will be available in March as a frameset for $4,500 to $6,500, which includes aerobars and hydraulic brakes, and a complete bike for $6,000 to $10,000, depending on configuration. Six sizes range from 48 to 61 centimeters. A complete bike with Dura-Ace and hydraulic brakes will cost $6,500 and $10,000 will get you a frameset built with Dura-Ace Di2 and hydraulic brakes.

This week Cervelo offered a closer look at the new P5 Tri/Time Trial aero bike. What we know so far is that one will be UCI legal, and ready for World Tour competition, while the other will be built to for triathlons. In either confirmation the P5 will include the Bbright asymmetrical bottom bracket, fully hidden internal routing of the cables, including for electronic shifting and a new braking system.

The video below will provide a few more details. The bike will reportedly arrive next month, and while it won’t come cheap, it will certainly be one that will turn heads!

Only the difference between winning and losing. And while there are many ways to get that perfect fit, the motorized, computer-controlled Guru DFU (Dynamic Fit Unit) will let you dial in that perfect fit. This uses electronic motors to adjust saddle and areobar position while you pedal. This allows you to feel the slight differences without jumping off the bike. This system even uses motion capture so you can see the differences as well as feel it!

With this in mind BOB brand of strollers has rolled out its Ironman branded stroller. It reportedly offers easy handling and a smooth ride (important for the little ones who get to ride while mom or dad trains), with three-inches of travel, while a fixed front wheel remains stable on uneven terrain.

The lightweight alloy material and pneumatic tires and tubes also make for easy pushing for those doing the training, while the Low Boy Cargo Basket offers undercarriage storage so there is plenty of room for snacks and toys for those long runs. BOB even offers a double stroller as well!

Most of us are fully aware of the need to stay hydrated in our daily lives, even while not engaging in a physical activity. We have to drink water to stay alive. There seems to be a countless number of companies making water bottles. Participate in any sort of organized sporting event and you are bound to find a bottle or two in your goodie bag. So why are we mentioning another water bottle? Because this one has a twist, or should we say ‘bend’, to the design – and you probably guessed, it is made in America.

The Tazi Ultimate Hydration Bottle has unique design. The base and the cap resemble a typical water bottle, but the body has a bend towards the top. This design allows the user to not have to turn their head while taking a drink and keep their eyes focused in the direction they are traveling. It is a simple as that – a bottle with an angled top, but it was not originally designed for that purpose as explained on their website.

The angle was originally designed to facilitate an accessory that would allow the bottle to be hung from different health club equipment and still maintain a perfectly vertical disposition. More recently, the angle has proved itself to be an ergonomic feature that allows runners, skater, cyclist, and those who carry bottles to hydrate without cocking ones head.

Filling the Tazi bottle using a water fountain

Another, presumable unintended feature, is that the Tazi Ultimate Hydration Bottle can be filled more easily than a traditional bottle when using a public water fountain. If you have ever tried to take a drink from a fountain with low water pressure, you know of how difficult it is to take a drink without getting extremely close with your mouth. With the design of the Tazi Ultimate Hydration Bottle, you have a better chance at completely filling up your bottle when your only option is a low pressure water supply.

The Tazi Ultimate Hydration Bottle has the typical features found in other water bottles. The wide-mouth opening of the bottle allows you to easily fill the bottle with ice and scrub the inside clean with a bottle brush if you prefer a sports drink over water. The bottle itself is constructed from the food-grade plastic, Low Density Polyethylene (LPDE) which allows the bottle to also be washed in the dishwasher.

Tazi bottle mist feature

The one other unique feature that the Tazi Ultimate Hydration Bottle possesses is in the cap itself – it can actually provide a cooling mist. To drink, simply turn the bottle upside-down, put the spout in you mouth, squeeze the bottle and drink. To mist, shake bottle lightly and squeeze bottle in the upright position having the spout pointing to whatever you want to mist. This is a feature best left for just water, it is probably not advisable to mist using a sports drink.

The 20 ounce Tazi Ultimate Hydration Bottle has a suggested retail price of $9.99 and is available in almost 10 different colors. Its design does allow it to fit in a typical water bottle cage, but you will probably have a little learning curve to overcome to remove it from the cage while cycling. The Tazi Ultimate Hydration Bottle can be found at some retailers, ordered from MadeInUSAForever.com or you can order directly from Tazi by sending them an e-mail through their website. If you have neck issues or prefer to drink and keeping you eyes focused forward, then this twist to the traditional water bottle design might be for you.

Just in time for this past weekend’s Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii, Bontrager unveiled a collection of new aftermarket upgrades to its wheel, handlebar, and brake lever triathlon lines. The new products are the result of lengthy testing with the highly successful Trek/K•Swiss triathlon team and allow triathletes of any ability level to improve their bike split with unparalleled componentry, regardless of what bike they’re riding.

(Video after the jump)

Bontrager’s latest upgrades follow the recent launch of the brand’s Aeolus D3 aero-wheel line. Available in ten colorways, the 90mm-deep Aeolus 9 D3 tubular is the tallest profile option in the wheel line, and the weapon of choice for elite triathletes. Its advanced rim profile and wider cross section allow the Aeolus 9 D3 to create less drag than deeper rim profiles, making it not only a faster choice, but because it has a shorter profile, also a lighter choice.

The Bontrager RXL Kammtail Virtual Foil aerobar, based on the development completed with Trek on the integrated bar previously exclusive to the Speed Concept, is now available to triathletes of all bike preferences. The new aftermarket handlebar features a 31.8mm clamp for compatibility with standard stems and an aero profile that meets UCI regulations. With a huge range of adjustability, the Bontrager RXL Kammtail Virtual Foil aerobar is an upgrade in fit as well as speed.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vo5LwxdbTII

“One of the features people love most about the Speed Concept, aside from the ride, is the range and ease of adjustability everything on the bike has. We wanted to bring that ability to dial in any bike to everybody,” said Bontrager Brand Manager Chris Clinton.

Accompanying the new bar, the Bontrager XXX Aero brake lever adds a never-before-seen level of adjustability to accompany the growing trend toward wider aero rim profiles. The lever incorporates tool-free brake pad adjustment to accommodate everything from traditional narrow rims to the new wide-profile Bontrager Aeolus D3 aero rims, all at the turn of a dial. Easily-accessible lever reach adjustment makes the XXX aero brake lever a perfect fit for any bike and any rider.

Trek doesn’t merely “try” again, with the Bontrager line it gets it tri right!

That is unless you’re swimming or going off to remote areas where tracking often poses a challenge. Innovations in GPS technology now make it possible to track your workouts, and races, when swimming. Garmin is among the sport watch manufacturers to leverage this new technology.

The company’s new Forerunner 910XT is a multisport watch, an all-in-one GPS-enabled device that provides detailed swim metrics and tracks distance, speed/pace, elevation and heart rate for running and cycling. The 910XT has an on-board barometric altimeter for improved elevation data.

A smooth, low profile allows for athletes to slide tight-fitting wetsuits over the watch. This makes it possible for use with water sports. It also facilitates quick outfit changes necessary for triathletes competing in races where a wetsuit or other protective and warmth gear is necessary.

(Video after the jump)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4Y5v1PDsxM

It used to be that if you were out of heart rate range the monitor would beep to an annoying pace, which often irritated friends or other racers. The 910XT uses a vibration motor for alerts such as heart rate, pace/speed and distance. You can still use the audible tones, but the vibration is often more effective when you can’t hear a beep.

Forerunner 910XT’s Virtual Racer feature lets users race against the clock. It allows users to race themselves over previous bests, or against the times of competitors. Register for the Garmin Connect community to set goals, track workout progress and share workouts with friends and family.

Garmin enlisted ANT+ for its wireless connectivity for syncing to heart rate monitors, foot pods, compatible third-party fitness equipment and power meters. It also connects to a PC or Mac for automatic data download. The Forerunner 910XT was announced in preparation for the Triathlon World Championship in Kona, HI, October 8, 2011.

The app will give competitors and spectators information on key locations like Saturday’s Toyota U.S. Open Triathlon Sports and Fitness Expo, The Harbor swim start, transition information, and the Finish Festival at The Hilton Bella Harbor. Competitors can also review the event updates that have been sent out.

“Thanks to Best Buy Mobile, spectators, friends and family can follow their favorite triathlete’s progress during the race,” said race director Nick Lynch. “After downloading the app, touching the ‘tracking’ icon and entering a bib number, they’ll be able to see the location of their triathlete as he or she crosses certain checkpoints on race day.”

In addition to providing real-time participant splits and transition times powered by the RR:360 results engine, the mobile app also will provide event information related to the best locations to watch the race, course maps, and overall race results. The Toyota U.S. Open Triathlon app can be downloaded free for Android and iPhones smartphones. And those without smartphone access can still follow the action from a computer.

All 2011 Race to the Toyota Cup participant results and current point standings are available at racetothetoyotacup.com, the official website of the Race to the Toyota Cup.

Though you may not be familiar with the name, the BH Group has been around since 1909. The Spanish company has many different product lines that fall under the BH name; BH Fitness, BH Bike and BH HiPower to name a few are all dedicated to producing bicycles, fitness equipment and gear for all levels of athletes.

Recently BH has created a website to help people get into the sport of triathlons and guide those who all ready compete achieve their goal of performing better. BH’s website is full of information regarding the gear required for a triathlon; training techniques; BH sponsored events; training programs; race results; videos; and much more. The website is for both amateurs and professionals in mind, with one goal in mind – to help you achieve your tri-goals!

Along with the triathlon website, BH also has an online group named Club BH Tri where users can participate in discussions, enter contests and be notified of upcoming events. The only shortcoming of the BH Triathlon website is that you might have to brush up on your Spanish… though most of the information is in English; there are still quite a few sections and buttons in Spanish.

There is no denying that training computers have typically had very specific uses. What is good in the water isn’t so good on the bike, but Polar USA looks to change the way the game is tracked with its new RCX5 training computer. It builds on the company’s decades of experience, and this new device combines Polar heart rate tracking accuracy with features that make it ideal in the water, on the bike and even on the pavement as you pound out each and every step.

The device, which is now available in “smart black” and will available in “striking red” later this year, is includes sport profiles that are essential for multisport and triathletes. It allows users to quickly switch between sports during training, so no time or training data is lost between swims, rides or runs.

“Triathlons are one of the fastest-growing sport segments in the United States, and we understand better than anyone in the market that multisport athletes demand data, whether they are training for their first regional event or chasing a lifelong professional pursuit,” said Jeff Padovan, President, Polar USA. “The Polar brand has been an established name among elite athletes for more than 30 years, and we are proud of the loyalty and knowledge we’ve built within the ‘tri’ market specifically. The RCX5 is the realization of everything we’ve been hearing that ‘tri’ users require to get to that next level, packaged in a new, sleek design.”

The RCX5 features a ZoneOptimizer that adjusts to personal heart rate zones based on the user’s current physiological condition to optimize just the right level of training intensity; plus Race Pace that lets the wearer set a target time for certain distances to see how far ahead or behind on a course the user is at a given time; and even a Training Load feature to let a wearer known when he or she has recovered enough for the next session.

The RCX5 is available in multiple product sets for running, cycling and multi-sport use. There is even a WearLink+ Hybrid transmitter that can ensure transmission in the water via a comfortable, fabric chest transmitter that transfers data both in 5 kHz and 2.4 GHz.

Training may never be the same again.

Polar RCX5 Official Website
